We’ve been digging Key Petersen’s short film series ‘Sacred Grounds’ series, which now at five installments, is equivalent in length to a full-length ski film with the cinematography, storytelling, and of course the skiing, to match. We’re big fans of athletes spearheading their own film projects as it gives us a look into their creative vision, music taste, the kind of skiing they’re most passionate about and ultimately, their true personality.
The ‘Sacred Grounds’ series takes Kye and crew to several places that hold a special place in Kye’s heart from his home range, the southern Coast Range of BC, to the Northern BC/Alaska border, the Japanese Alps, the Columbia ranges of interior BC, and the Southern Chilcotins Mountains. ‘Facets’ caps off ‘Sacred Grounds’ as the fifth and final episode of the series which focuses on places Kye enjoys more regularly that are closer to home and more easily accessible like Whistler Blackcomb, the Skeena River, the Whistler skatepark, the beaches of Tofino, and the Squamish backcountry. We’re hoping this is just the beginning for these types of projects from Kye as we’re already frothing for more films of this nature in the future.
