With this month marking the 30 year anniversary of the first US Extreme Skiing Championships in Crested Butte Colorado, we’re throwing it back to the comp highlights from 1996. A few notable skier’s at this one were Shance McConkey, Seth Morrison, Brant Moles and Wendy Fisher. It’s wild to see how the big mountain competition scene has evolved since but what a revolutionary time in big mountain freeskiing history. Freeskiing was barley even a sport at the time and events like this helped put it on the map and pave the way for the sport we know today. The things i’d do to travel back in time to watch these early big mountain events in person.
